Providing Affordable Access to Land
The Vermont Land Trust’s Farmland Access Program is the link between beginning farmers ready to own their own land or current farmers looking to expand their business and farms in transition.
VLT uses conservation tools to help make the land more affordable for farmers and then keep it at its agricultural value for future farmers. VLT, one of the pioneers of this work, holds over 1,900 easements and in the past decade has helped with the transfer of $55 million in Vermont farm real estate to new farmers.
